At first it was just simple foods, but then 3 years living in the US introduced me to fake meats, which caused me to develop a soy and gluten sensitivity.  I've since found healing in eating whole foods, and mostly raw living food. alright, here’s the deal: i’m 45, vegan (yes, the kind that won’t shut up about it), and finally living my best life now that the kids are out of the house. i’ve got a solid gig in software development—basically, i fix stuff you didn’t know was broken and make a pretty nice $160k doing it. life’s good, but it’d be even better with someone who can handle a little sarcasm and a lot of tofu.

when i’m not debugging code or overthinking my next whole foods purchase, i’m out hiking, pretending i enjoy yoga (spoiler: it’s mostly about not pulling a hamstring), or trying to keep my houseplants alive—50% success rate, but hey, we’re all doing our best.

I have never been married - during my younger years I wanted to renounce "worldy life" and become a monastic yogini, meditating in a cave in remote ashram in India. I am a committed vegetarian (40 years, thus far), and also very environmentally-conscious. I am also committed to never being married, although I am very open to a long-term monogamous relationship with the right woman who lives close to me. Not sure what else to say here, for the moment...! Currently, I am  doing handyman work, until I can find the right telecomms contract.

What else ? I trained as a professional massage therapist, a million years ago, so I am interested in healing therapies, although I have never studied any other therapies.

I enjoy sitting in the pub, watching a film on my laptop, whilst savouring a nice non-alcoholic lager or cider. Park walks and beach walks are nice, too - likewise, a nice curry or perhaps Thai/Chinese (but fairly well anything which is either veggie or vegan.).

I also get great pleasure singing in a Gospel Choir (not the kind with the robes - we have a different uniform at our concerts, where we raise money for charities.). I don't actually "do" religion, but I would describe myself as spiritual, I guess.

I studied Green Technology, so I have an interest in any technology which reduces energy consumption and makes buildings and vehicles less wasteful and more efficient, and thereby reduces planetary damage. Very much a recyclist, whenever I reasonably can be!

My top priority now are two endeavors, one is to spend my time using my innate talents and working on them daily. I was born able to create art and to sing. I have spent my life working for income to support myself and my children, now I want to focus on being absorbed in a creative state. Second is to find a mate for life. I love special effects films of all genres. I worked at an effects company and I love to see what has come about in that technology. My favorites are martial arts films from China, Korea and Japan. Bushido!

Entertainment tastes: Anything from country to Christian to classical to classic musicals. ETHICAL VEGAN

 

Those who know me well would agree with this:

 

I am a loyal friend, attentive listener, creative and tenacious problem solver and, if it's within my power, a facilitator of the dreams of others.

 

From an early age, I was an eager learner, interested in many things. Still am.

However, there are only two things that I have been consistently passionate about in my life:

 

Doing everything in my power to protect the natural environment from man's abuses including protecting all living creatures from exploitation and suffering.

 

and

 

Striving every day to be the best friend, partner and confidant to the woman I adored.

 

I had the uncommon good fortune of finding the love of my life at age 17. We had over 50 years together sharing everything. If I were to die tomorrow, I will have had more days of true happiness than any human has the right to expect.

 

But, I'm not likely to die tomorrow or anytime soon. At 73, I am healthier and stronger than I was in my teens and twenties , and I was a four sport athlete back then.

 

So, here's the deal. While I am truly grateful for a lifetime of love and happiness, I am struggling to cope with profound sadness over what I have lost. Furthermore, I am not meant to be alone. At my very essence I am a loving, attentive, empowering and entertaining half of a synergistic whole. Without a better half, I am adrift.

 

I am fully aware that the odds against filling that void are substantial. In the meantime, I would welcome new friendships with other ethical vegans.

 

Some notes:

 

Age: Ignore my chronological age. Unless you are a triathlete or marathoner, I will be able to keep up with you. As I stated earlier, I am healthier and stronger than I was in my teens and twenties and I was a multi sport athlete then.

I have been living abroad in several countries over 15 years (Australia, Singapore, Philippines, Switzerland, Belgium, Ecuador, Mexico). My passion for nature and environmental issues made me change my career from a lab working scientist to project manager in a nature conservation organisation (unfortunately my office was not in nature), and then independently looking into projects involving permaculture, agroforestry, community food forests.

One of my dreams is to build a tiny house and/or an Earthship together with many like-minded people, ideally from mostly recycled and reclaimed materials, and having some land for growing food & materials to live from but also to give back to nature.

Raw Vegan

.  I'm open to meeting any degree of vegetarian.   Relaxing and meditating in nature, by the ocean or forest is great. I enjoy helping others and offering counsel.  I am not religious, nor favor any 1 particular religion. All are good and useful.  I do volunteer as pianist/organist for a local community church. I prefer being monogamous.    I try to maintain positive thoughts and surround myself with positive people. I love passion and romance. I am attracted to somewhat introvert-type personalities. Love plants and animals, especially dogs, horses and cats. I am a   peaceful spiritual mature person, not to mention classy but nonmaterialistic.  I enjoy the simple  things in life like walks and road trips. I would also call myself financialy responsible. I am positive, delightfull, and well spoken. I was married when in my twenties, but it was an extremely complicated story. I was a  preschool teacher for about 16 years and have a great love for children.  I love diversity and accept people as they are. In my free time I rescue lost and abandoned animals and help them find good homes. I do not believe that animals are here for us to wear eat or test on (That would include chicken and fish as well). I believe we as humans should protect and care for them. I also have rocked newborns at a local hospital for  seven years. I also have vollunteered at a local mental health facility, pouring coffee and being a mentor to thoes who need guidence. I volunteer in my local community and try to keep the community safe.I honestly would love to work there one day. I love to sing and dance. I can be concidered a gym rat. I believe that good health begins with a good diet. I am a vegan as of May 2009 and a vegetarian since 1987. Some of the things I like to do in my spare time are singing dancing volunteering working out,and sharing my time with friends. I play piano and love all sorts of music.  I love attending festivals. I also enjoy yoga, power-walking and taking a jog in the evening. My first language is English, but I also speak spanish.   I concider myself a family person and believe that my greatest achievement in life will be my family. I have  son who is with me always, I am raising him by myself. I am verry open to people who already have children as well. I would love to learn to compost and plant a garden. I'm hoping to one day live somewhere near the ocean, but am open to relocating to other places in California as well.
